Why Do Sports & Fitness Coaches Need Liability Insurance?
Sports and fitness coaches work closely with clients to improve strength, conditioning, movement, performance, and overall fitness. Even when you coach carefully and follow accepted practices, injuries, accidents, or disagreements about your professional guidance can still happen.
Liability insurance helps protect your coaching business when a client claims they were injured, their property was damaged, or your professional services caused them harm.
Your Coaching May Involve Risks Such As:
What Sports & Fitness Coaching Typically Involves
Sports and fitness coaching helps individuals improve movement, fitness, conditioning, athletic performance, and physical confidence through instruction, goal setting, and ongoing support.
Sports and fitness coaching may include:

- Movement and exercise coaching
- Eligible recreational sport-specific skill and performance coaching
- Goal setting, programming, and progress tracking
- Motivation, accountability, and performance support
- Classes, workshops, or small-group training
- In-person or online coaching
Because sports and fitness coaching involves physical activity and professional instruction, coaches have responsibilities related to both the guidance they provide and the environment in which they work.
Sports and fitness coaching does not include diagnosing, treating injuries, providing physical therapy or rehabilitation, or performing other healthcare services that require a professional license.
