Yes. APC policies are occurrence-based. If a covered incident occurs while your policy is active, a related claim reported later will be covered under that policy period, subject to the applicable policy terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions.

With occurrence-based coverage, the important date is when the covered incident happened. You can report a related claim later, even if you are no longer actively coaching or the original policy period has ended.

This differs from claims-made coverage, which generally requires the policy to be active when the claim is made and may involve additional requirements for prior acts or extended reporting.

What this means for you:

• A covered incident that occurs during your active APC policy period remains tied to that policy period.

• A related claim can be reported later, even after that policy period has ended.

• You do not need to keep the same occurrence-based policy active solely to preserve coverage for a covered incident that occurred during that earlier policy period.

Occurrence-based coverage provides long-term protection for covered incidents that happen while your policy is active, even when a related claim does not arise until later.

To be eligible for APC membership and coaching liability insurance, you must provide coaching or related professional services within an accepted scope of practice and be based in the United States.

To become an APC member, you must meet the following criteria:

Scope of Practice

Your work should fall within coaching or related professional services. This includes supporting clients through guidance, goal-setting, personal or professional development, mindset work, and other non-licensed coaching approaches.

Coaching specialties such as life coaching, health and wellness coaching, business coaching, relationship coaching, performance coaching, and other similar services are generally eligible.

Please note: Services that require a professional license (such as medical, legal, or mental health treatment) are not covered under this policy.

U.S. Residency

You must be based in the United States. While you may work with clients remotely from other countries, your coaching practice must be operated from within the U.S., and any claims must be brought in the United States.

U.S. citizenship is not required for membership.
